Hey, this is Kyle Wallgren, and I have a story to tell.  Kids in poverty hear “you can’t” way too often, and it’s heartbreaking. But the truth is, literacy can be their shield against doubt.

Studies show that strong readers are 50% more likely to feel confident in school. And that confidence? It’s life-changing. It pushes them forward beyond the limits people try to place on them.

I know what it’s like to doubt yourself. Growing up, reading felt more like a battle than a gift. Struggling with words made me question what I could achieve. But I pushed through, and now I’m making sure other kids don’t have to fight the same fight alone.

My kids won’t grow up with the same struggles I did, but I still want literacy to be their armor—protecting their dreams, building their resilience, and giving them the courage to rise.

When a child reads about a hero who refuses to give up, they see themselves in that story. They learn to push back, stand tall, and go after something bigger—whether it’s a better grade, a career, or a life beyond poverty.

Let’s give them that courage.

📖 Read a story with your child about someone who defied the odds. It could light a fire inside them. And if their school needs extra support, tools like Edsoma make reading easier and more engaging.
